False. The God's did not forgive him and it left him with nobody. This shows that there can be major consequences when you make prideful decisions. This idea is the catharsis that readers need to take away. In the play it says “Lead me away. I have been rash and foolish. I have killed my son and my wife. I look for comfort; my comfort lies here dead. Whatever my hands have touched has come to nothing. Fate has brought all my pride to a thought of dust.”(1034-1038)

A.)Protagonist

Antigone did know she was breaking the law by burying her brother but did it anyway. She did not feel guilty at all. This is her anagnorisis. Antigone tells Ismene she was going to bury their brother Polynieces. This happens in the beginning of the play to help give an idea of what's to come. In the play it says “Ismene I'm going to bury him. Will you come?” (31)

Megareus died in the assault on Thebes. This is shown on footnote nineteen on page fourty this is part of Creon’s hamartia because his son being killed in the assault made him blame Polynieces and that started everything to come.

Creon ignores the prophets warning because of his pride. He didn't regard the warning because he didn't want to admit that what he was doing was wrong. This is part of his hubris.(839-840)

B.) Antagonist

Antigone got caught the second time she went to where Polynieces lay dead. This was her mistake. If she wouldn't have gone back she wouldn't have gotten caught. In the play it says “So when this girl found the bear corpse, her loves work wasted, she wept and cried on heaven to Dan the hand that had done this thing…”(338-344) Antigone had already buried Polyneices partially and she should have done all of it the first time and she wouldn't have gotten caught.

The prophet told Creon the gods were upset with Creon’s decisions. This is one of the bigger scenes in the middle of the play. In the play it says “I tell you Creon, you yourself have brought this new calamity upon us. Our hearths and altars are stained with the corruption of dogs and carrion birds.” (796-798)

Haimon killed himself because he couldn't kill his father for revenge so he killed himself to be with Antigone. This is part of Creon's nemesis and catastrophe. (971-972) This shows how Haimon killed himself because of his grief caused by his father.

Antigone was born cursed because her parents were mother and son. This is her hamartia or curse beginning because she is doomed for the worst from the beginning for something she didn't do. In the play it says “ Test today at last: the bridal bed unspeakable, horror of son and mother mingling... “(694-700)

This shows her stubbornness. This is part of her hubris. If she would have never broken the law and buried her brother she wouldn't have died. She also didn't feel guilty. In the play it says “I dared. It was not God's Proclamation... This death of mine is of no importance; but if I had left my brother lying and death unburied, I should have suffered. Now I do not.”(357-372)

Creon's alternative was putting her in a cave to pray to the gods of hell. This is Antigone's peripeteia. In the play it says “I will carry her far away out there in the wilderness and lock her living in a vault of stone. She shall have food, as the custom is, to absolve the state of her death.”(632-635) This gave her the chance to die in peace instead of being stoned to death.

Euridice killed herself at the end. This was the biggest part that set Creon over the edge of grief.”(1001-1002)

Creon didn't allow Polyneices a burial out of spite. This is his mistake. In the footnote on page forty it says his son Megareus was killed in the assault on Thebes.. Polyneices led the assault leaving Creon to blame Megareus’s death on Polynieces. This seems to be the reason Polyneices was refused burial leading to all the disaster after.

The story takes place in Thebes. On page two in the scene description it says “All of the day after repulse of the Argive army from the assault on Thebes.

She did not come out because she hung herself. This was her nemesis and catastrophe. In the play it says “ We obeyed, and in the caverns farthest corner we saw her lying: she had a noose of her fine linen Veil and hanged herself”(957-960) Creon and Haimon both found her dead by her own hand.

Yes she could have. If she would have been patient and waited longer she would have lived. This teaches the reader that patience is super important. It could be a life-saving decision. This is Antigone's catharsis. In the play it says “We obeyed; and in the cavern’s farthest corner We saw her lying: She had made a noose of her fine linen veil And hanged herself.” She could have waited for Creon to come and let her out.
