Healthy lifestyle=good health = peace= organization=balance= contentment. To maintain a healthy lifestyle, good mental health has to be present. Plus, exercise and nutrition have to be evident. This is why it positively affects the body and mind.

It affects how people think, act, feel, their relationships, and their confidence. All of these aspects are important in defining someone’s identity.

Some people are athletes and sports are a huge part of who they are. However there is no right or wrong answer. However, it’s an important question to think about.

What is diet culture and how can we prevent ourselves from being exposed to it?
It’s a system promoting weight loss, but in a bad way. It gives people a higher status based on looks. It is an industry profiting off of insecurities. To prevent ourselves from being exposed or affected by it, we should clean up our social media feed from advertising or people that make us feel bad about ourselves. And we should understand that food is fuel, needed to nourish our bodies.

There’s no right or wrong answer. But the question is important to think about.

How does mental health affect someone’s identity?
They both rely on each other. They balance each other out. If one is negatively affected, it brings down the other. Ex: Mental health is bad=tired / Physical health is bad=sad and unmotivated.

Eating disorders are mental health problems. hey are an obsession with food, body image, and exercise. They are extremely dangerous because severe cases can lead to fainting, organ failure, or even death. Examples: Anorexia / Bulimia / Binge eating

How does nutrition help in building a healthy mind?
Ex 1: Increasing protein in a diet is important because it has amino acids, which have chemicals helping the brain regulate emotions.
Ex 2: Studies show hormonal pathways related to sleep are affected by lack of nutrients.
Ex 3: Traditional diets decrease depression by 25-35%.
Ex 4: the GI tract is connected to the brain. Good food consumed, turns into good bacteria in the GI tract, which goes to the brain and affects mood positively.
Ex 5: Certain foods also increase memory and learning.
