For the Lord will not cast off for ever: But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies. For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

They were mourning the loss of their brother and thought Jesus was too late

Days are filled with sorrow and care
Hearts are lonely and drear

This is the first stage of grief

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

He was so saddened when his son was sick that he did not move or eat for 7 days

Does Jesus care when I've said goodbye
To the dearest on earth to me

This is the most common form of heartbreak

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

He lost all his children, possessions and health

Infinite day excludes the night
And pleasures banish pain

This is the most commonly lost item

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

She was mourning because she lost her husband and 2 sons

And our spirit shall sorrow no more
Not a sigh for the blessing of rest

This is how long it takes on average to get over a heartbreak

Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

He grieved when he thought his son was mauled by a wild beast

Soon we'll reach the shining river
Soon our pilgrimage will cease
