What is the Platform Advisory Group?
Three of the 17 members are from Manitoba - two people with lived experience and one subject matter expert on accessibility.
There are 15 people with lived experience and 2 subject matter experts in this group at Heart & Stroke, providing advice on a new, digital Mission project.

Multiple events were held the week of Wear Red Day Canada highlighting our WWLE and subject matter experts.
Held this year on February 13, 2020, this day is an opportunity to spread awareness about women's heart health.

What is HeartSmart Kids?
In Manitoba we have relationships with Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Center, Frontier School Division, and 5 of the 7 tribal councils to promote HSK in First Nation schools across MB.
As of February in MB, there are over 90 educators working with more than 4,300 Indigenous youth using this program.

What is an acute stroke unit?
ASU planning and coordinating meetings are being held to advance both the building design and the care pathways.
This critical component of coordinated stroke care has been absent in MB, but gov't commitment is now in place and work is underway to implement one that will feature 28 beds.

Of 57 participants attending the stage 3 workshop in May 2019, 8 (14%) were from Manitoba.
Last year, this was a 3 - stage Heart & Stroke engagement initiative aimed at learning about gaps in care for women and opportunities for change.

MB has recently completed our environmental scan work of key university and funding body stakeholders.
As per F20 mission priorities, Manitoba has had several discussions with university and funding bodies to advance this critical acronym related to equity in women's research.

Who is Esther Sanderson?
Esther has been an influential volunteer with H&S and a WWLE. She lives in Opaskwayak Cree Nation, MB.
This Heart & Stroke spokesperson was featured in the 2018 Ms.Understood report, sits on our women's heart health research network and promotes a wholistic approach to heart health that incorporates culture knowledge and family bonds.

What is a Chair in Clinical Stroke Research?
Final details of the agreement are currently being reviewed and the launch of the Chair recruitment is expected to happen within the next few weeks.
With the support of Jean Woo and team, this brand new strategic research initiative will soon be launching in Manitoba to bring in a champion in clinical stroke research.
